The Project Management Professional (PMP) is the world's most recognized PM credential. Here's what the data says about its value in Lebanon and the MENA region.
Project managers with a PMP certification earn 22% more than their non-certified peers, according to PMI's annual salary survey. In the Middle East, where large infrastructure, technology, and development projects are expanding rapidly, this credential is increasingly in demand.
What Is PMP?
The Project Management Professional (PMP) is awarded by the Project Management Institute (PMI) — the world's leading project management organization. It's recognized in over 200 countries and is considered the gold standard for experienced project managers.
PMP Exam — Updated for 2025
PMI updated the PMP exam to reflect how projects are actually managed today — a hybrid of predictive (waterfall) and agile methodologies:
- 50% predictive project management
- 50% agile / hybrid approaches
The exam has 180 questions (multiple choice, drag-and-drop, matching) and must be completed in 230 minutes. You need 36 months of project management experience (with a 4-year degree) to be eligible.
Why PMP Matters in MENA
Lebanon, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar are all seeing growth in sectors that rely heavily on skilled project managers:
- Construction and real estate development
- IT and digital transformation projects
- NGO and international development programs
- Banking and financial services
- Healthcare infrastructure
Many international tenders and contracts now explicitly require PMP-certified project managers on the team.
